Members ol t.lie Parliamentary Party telegraphed the Prime Minister “Party of ten members of Parliament visited several camps irom Waikokopu to Harrietts on Napier—Gisborne Pailnay formation ami had the plight of the wives and families of the men transferred to Ara.pnni and Galatea brought before taeni. oy a deputation of women concerned.
We all agree that the position is must unfortunate. The separation ol the heads ol families from their wives and children is a grave hardship in all eases, but where the families are living in remote, lonely gullies, the position is cruel. We strongly urge immediate slips be taken to enable the families to reunite. Please inform us what is being done in this direction by the. Public Works Department.”
The party left Gisborne this morning for other centres, which would serve as feeders for the railway, they return to town to-morrow.
