The gift is a solid gold.cigarette case, Which was sent to Mr Pow by the British Farmers’ Union, a touring party of which body visited New Zealand last year. Mr Pow was in charge of the arrangements for the itinerary of the touring party, and also accompanied them for part of their visit in order to aid them in their tour. The cigarette case, which is a. beautiful one, is inscribed with appreciative sentiments of the British Union for the service performed for their representatives during the 1980 visit. The irony of the gift is this—though a veteran soldier (he commanded a battalion of the Rifle Brigade during the war). Mr Pow does not -smoke.
