JOHNS DEFEATS FECK IF

AUCKLAND, Jan. 20
The professional lightweight boxing championship of New Zealand changed hands to-night when Harry Johns (Auckland), 9.5{- defeated the holder. Hector Leekie (Otago), on points at the end of the full fifteen rounds. Johns gave the most scientific display, leading easily over the first few rounds. Leekie asserted himself ductile middle stages. but the Aucklander came again in the last three rounds to score a popular victory. This was Johns’s debut as a professional.
