The Alonowai .entered Wellington heads at 1.47 p.m..to-day lowering the' Malolo’s record for the .Tasipan cross-, ing by 58 minutes. The Alonowai left Sydney heads at 5 p.m., last Thursday. The total time from heads to heads was two days 18 hours 44 minutes. She encountered a heavy swell and northerly winds for the greater part of the passage.
The Sydney-Wellington run represented the last lap of the Alonowai’s first round trip from AVellington to San Francisco and back, and then from Wellington to Sydney and back. On the San Francisco trip the Alonowai experienced mainly fine weather, and was content to adhere to schedule, She is to sail aU 3 p.m. on Tuesday in continuation of her voyage to San Francisco. The Monowai was built by Harlan- 1 a'nd Wolff, Ltd., at Belfast, in 1925. arfid is of 10,857 tons gross register. She* is fitted, with two sets'of quadruple expansion engines of the balance; type developing 12,000 indicated horse power.
