A Congress celebration of Indopeiulence dav led to an attempt to hold a mass meeting in Calcutta. Four processions, headed *>v Congress flags, were dispersed by the police. after taou charges in which a number were injured.
Kubhas Rose. Calcutta's Mayor, who was released iroin gaol on Saturday, was arrested for attempting to address
a meeting. Neatly one hundred arrests, including eighty women, were made.
