BELL WINS SINGLES. PAIRS TO PILKINGTON. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 25. On Saturday afternoon there were enacted on the Carlton Green the closing scenes of tho most successful and thoroughly enjoyed Dominion howling tournament when the final games to decide the title holders of both singles and pairs competitions were played. On th,(t. score of weather, the climate conditions could hardly have been better, the usual breeze from the south west being the only rrreumstanes to interfere with the play. A large crowd lined the hanks at Carlton in anticipation of a. good game between Bell (Hamilton) and Parsons (Ponsonby), and they were not disappointed, for tie) spectators were treated to a fair exhibition of bowl fug, the result being in doubt till the last Bell won in a game, from the tentii head, producing really good howling, considering the slippery condition of the rink played on.

Bell played 12 games throughout and won. eleven of them. He was beaten by one point by Harris (Stratford) in the. third round.

At the Papatoetou Green, the final -rounds of the pairs were also played In the first game between -lack (St. Johns land Walker (Auckland), the paly was fairly even, hilt the »St. Johns .pair were slightly superior over -the concluding stages, and won an ivfteTes,tjng struggle by three points. The final between Pilkington (Hamilton), and Jack was rather an nn•even contest, the former holding the advantage throughout, and Jack never looked like winning. A feature of this game was the splendid leading b\ Loveridge for the winning pair. Results.
