MONETARY POLICY
MR THEODORE’S STATEMENT,
(Australian Press Association.)
(Received 10.30 n.m.)
SYDNEY, January 22. Speaking at Enrlwood, Air Theodore said: ‘‘Bankers will be driven to change the monetary policy of Australia. I am trying to make them realise their responsibilities and if'tliev won't they will have to stand out of the way and let someone else dictate it. Our Bankers have slavishly followed the banking policy of England, which is unsuited to our needs. The deflation policy lias caused many people loss of homes and jobs, and ruined tens of thousands of business men. sent thousands more bankrupt and created a situation to-day when one fifth of the employable population is out of work.”
