The effort of the court's judgment is that tlie new Federal basic wage will be £3/18/2. A ton per cent, reduction ol all Federal award earnings for unions is <ited. representing reductions for' a hundred and thirty thousand employees in New South Wales, and
nearly three hundred thousand throughout the Commonwealth. There will he a saving of seven hundred thousand sterling in the Railway Salary Bill.
Air Brooks, a member of the Legislative Council addressing the employers Federation, said the reduction would reduce producing costs in Australia by seventeen and a-lialf millions sterling, and would create employment.
