APPOINTMENT TO TOKIO

RUGBY, January 20.
The King has approved of the appointment of Sir Francis Lindlev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at Lisbon, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at Tokio.
fSir Francis Bindley, P C., K.C.M.G, C. 8.; C.8.E., has been Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary tp Portigal since; 1929. He was horn in 1872. He entered the diplomaticservice in 1896, and has held many appointments in Europe, the more recent ones being; Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Austria 1920- At Athens 1922-23; Oslo 1923-29. He holds Coronation medals of 1902 and 1911, and has received allowances for knowledge of international law, Persian, and Arabic.]
