A “Times” niessago states:—A fire was noticed by a sentry opposite the barracks at Maidstone at midnight. Soldiers helped the fire brigade, the chief offeer of which ascended the ladder to an. upper storey. He smashed a window and entered n bedroom and -discovercl George. James, aged 47, is wife, aged 45, and their daugtitei aged 13 and son aged 5 asphyxiated.
