REV FATHER TASTER. VITER. S.AI

Very many friends throughout the West Coast will regret to learn of the death of the, Rev. Father James Frailer, S.M., which occurred at Ash,grove. Brisbane, Queensland, on Wednesday. A native of Greymouth, the late Father Frailer was a member of the. wellknown Fraher family, who have resided for very many years at Knroro. Born 46 years ago, he received his "arly education at the local Marist Brothers’ School, and on oomolction of his training there, he went to St. Patrick’s College, Wellington, and then to the Grecnmeadows Marist Seminflrv to enter the religiovis life. Aftt"- Ins ordination in 1912. + l '- Rev. Father Fraher came a-s a curate to the late .Very Rev. Dean Corew, in Grevmonth. where lie won the highest regard from the whole of the congregation and the esteem of a great many outside Its denomination for his sturdy and in‘telligent adherence to democratic manciples, as well as for his charitable works, which he contrived to kcC largely hidden. After some four years here, he was stationed at various times at Tomukn, Nelson, Otaki, and Hastings. From the hitter place, he went twelve years ago. to Ashgrovc. the Queensland house of his Oi’dei, as ■’ member of the Marist Missionary Staff in the northern Austmjian State. _ Hi« only surviving relatives are his sister Miss Man Fraher, of Karoro; and »',> brother Mr Richard Fraher, of Central Otago, until hip recent retirement a managerial member of the Bank of New Zealand staff in that locality.
