The weather held up splendidly for the afternoon, and the conditions were pleasant for the gathering. The course was in capital order in view of the circuiustaues ami there were good fields while the'races were well contest with some close finishes. Everything passed off smoothly. - ■ The .attendance was considerably below that of the previous year, while there was a considerable drop in the totalisator turnover. The amount handled for the day was £4363}, as against £6Q64$ in 1928 and £7750}- in. 1829. The various officials carried out their duties in their usual, efficient manner-and the events were run off promptly.
