(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) OTTAWA, January 6. A despatch to a Toronto telegram from London, Ontario states:—An impending fight by British Talking Picture Producers to wrest a large share of the Canadian .Theatrical business from the Paramount Public Corporat ion is rumoured in local motion picture circles, when it was learned representatives of the British concern were negotiating for the purchase of a number of independent theatres in Canadian cities. ‘ Gauniont_ Ltd., was reported leading an attempt for British Producers to regain a large share of the lost market.

A Winnipeg message states:— pendent theatre owners there believe Gaumont British Picture Corporation will seek the purchase of picture houses there and in the West.
