Facing a. hopeless task, the West Indies continued their second innings in tbe test match this morning, in fine weather, and in the presence of a few
hundred spectators. Ironmonger was given tbe ball for tbe first time in, this innings, and he dismissed Barrow and Francis in the first over, which was a maiden. The total was now 7 for 67. Grimmett’s fiust over was also a
maiden. Then Bradman dropped Scott in Ironmonger’s second over, and Jackson dropped Grant off Grimmett. Scott bad a hit and lie added 23 with Grant for the eight wicket before he, was caught in tbe outfield. Grimmett ten got Griffith and Australia recorded an overwhelming victory. THIRD TEST

The Australian team against the Wept Indies at Brisbane on January 16th will be the same as the second test, except that Oxenham replaces Hurwood.
VICTORIA BEAT SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
MELBOURNE. January 5
In the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria, South Australia in the second innings made 353 for 8 wickets and declared. Hack made 87, Richardson" 29, Lonergnn (not out) 100, and Waite 59. In the bowling Ryder took 2 for 9; Blackie 2 for 84, and Alexander 2 for 75.
Victoria lost seven wickets for 85. Hendry made 33. Carlton took 3 for 28. and Waite 2 for 9. Victoria, won on the first innings.
