The third day of the Auckland R.C. meeting was • held in hot, humid weather, after slight rain early in the day. The tote took £70,930 for the day, as against £74,182-J last year. The figures for the three days are £226,5341 as against £267,674! labt year. Results: — Elleirslie Handicap, one mile. —4 Loving Cup U 3 Stonehenge 2, 6 Brampton 3. Won by half a. length; a neck. Time 1.40.

Midsummer Handicap, six furlongs. —3 Royal Baby 1, 9 Princess Belie 2. 2 Chief Jewel 3. Won. by a length and a-half; half a length. Time 1.14 2-5. STRATFORD R.C. STRATFORD, January 1. The first day of the Stratford Racing Club’s meeting was held to-day in fine weather, with a large attendance. The .track was in good order. The tote handled £19,9701, compared with £26,720 for last year’s first day. Tt Was a splendid race for the Cup. Melissa showed, out first, followed by Marjoram, Moilsogne and The Swell. The lead was then taken by Marjoram, with Mejissa, Monsogiie and/ Sen town following. With six furlongs to go Melissa and-Marjoram still lead, with High Falutin fifth. A furlong further on High Falutin was fourth and The Swell sixth. Over the last hit the two latter came away to get the first two places.
