Baird, a middle aged restaurant keeper was assaulted and robbed of two days’ takings, £6B, and about 1.30 o’clock on New Year’s morning. He went home in a taxi in which were two other men passengers. All left the taxi at Baird’s gate and he wisheu the others a happy New Year. Then lie says, lie was sandbagged and robbed of the bag containing the money. The taxi cab, in the meantime, had gone on. He shouted for help and people including his wife who was at a party across the road came out and picked him up. He is suffering from two black eyes and a broken nose.
