MARINE CAVES
A NEW DISCOVERY

During the Nanas holidays a series of very beautiful and very extensive marine caves were discovered just south of Tory Channel, Entrance is secured by small, almost concealed openings, but large launches can he taken right into the system. The main cave is described as having a very rugged roof, presenting all the colours of the rainbow with wonderful stalactites in beautiful shades o I white, green, reel, and brown, with clear crystal with wonderful blue and heliotrope shades and phosphorescent effects. In tin 1 opinion of P. R. Wilkinson. Commissioner of Crown Lands, the caves outrival the famous Jenolan and Waitomo. being of an entirely different nature. Further exploration is being carried out. The discoverer wore J. and G. Porano of Whekanui, Betty Best, Bay Wilkinson and John Best of Blenheim.
Mr G. Ellis, of Russell, landed on Saturday the record mako or the season. It weighed 5211 b. The monster was caught close alongside the anglers’ headquarters on Urupukapuka Island. The fish leapt high into the anon eight occasions and gave a spectacular fight for an hour and a half.
