A hash of lightning at Woolloomooloo damaged two buildings, stunned three .persons, shook the crockery off shelves for nearly quarter of a mile around and finally earthed alter shattering an electric light meter. The people in the vicinity described tbe rumblings and tremblingp as being like an earthquake. One man was deafened and knocked senseless, and was not able to give a. coherent account of what happened until twelve hours later. SYDNEY'S LORD .MAYOR. SYDNEY, Dec. 30. Although the Australian Board of Control discussed for some hours Manager Kelly’s report on the test tour, no decisions were arrived at. MATTHEWS' FLY. BRISBANE, Dec. 30. The airman Matthews has arrived at Charleville. He has definitely fixed Saturday morning as the time to hop off from Darwin. AUSTRALIAN TREASURY BILLS. SYDNEY, Dec. 30. The discounting of Australian Treasury 'Dills of five million sterling at five per cent, suggested by the “Morning Post” is for the repayment of a similar amount discounted in July at four par cent. This amount of five million i« a portion of the thirtyeight million sterling of the Australian floating debt in -London. THREATENED, FEDERAL CRISIS. “HERALD’S” COMMENT. (Received this day at 12 norm). SYDNEY, Dec. 30. The “Herald” says:—lt is stated in Federal Labour circles that Mr J. H. IScullin may avert the threatened Federal crisis ’upon his return by a. compromise with militant sections of his party. It is considered certain if Mr SculLin 'decides straight out to support Messrs Lyons nnd Fenton, lie is defying the demands of the caucus, and ho will' immediately ho confronted with a move to depose him from his position.
