44 HOUR WEEK
‘ EMPLOYERS INTENTIONS. (Australian Press Association) (Received this dav at 9. a.m.) SYDNEY, December 30. Despite the recent protests by employers against the proposed reintroduction of the 44 hour week with pay for 48 hours, and also the, abolition of rationing, the State Ministry . has decided that both shall operate on January sth. It is estimated that twentysix thousand employees will bn dismissed. Employers assert there is only a certain amount of money' available for wages and the only 'alternative is wholesale dismissals which will take effect the moment the Government’s proclamation is issued.
