The Canterbury team to play AVellington, will be the same as that which played Auckland, except that R. Read replaces Burrows, who is not available. VICTORIA V. N.S.AV MELBOURNE, Dec. 29. The much-postponed Sheffield Shield game, Victoria v. New South AA’ales, entered upon its last day to-day in ideal weather. The Victorians’ first innings closed with a total of 185 runs. Ponsford made 109 not out. In the bowling Fairfax took 4 for 41, and Stewart 2 for 65. The New South Wales batsmen (speeded up in order to try and gain the requisite runs for a first innings victory. In consequence of this, their wickets fell cheaply. Bradman went for two, AlcCabe for ten, and Kippax for four, but Jackson made a useful stand of 53 (not out), six wickets having fallen at the drawing of stumps. The match was drawn. MELBOURNE, Dec. 30. Bowling for Victoria—lronmonger took 1 for 26, Blaclcie 2 for 16. NO AUSTRALIAN TOUR. OF NEAV ZEALAND.
