“Pardon me, Sir,” remarked a man aboard an Auckland ferry-boat the other day to a fellow-passenger, “but what tobacco are you smoking? It has a beautiful bouquet.” “New Zealand Cut Plug No. 10,” replied the stranger. “I’m a heavy smoker, and like the toasted because it’s so free from nicotine. The toasting outs out the poison. Can’t smoke more than a pine or two of the imported. Jt’s so full of nicotine. You can smoke a barrel-full of ton'ted without hurting yourself. The toasting leaves it pure, _ sweet and fragrant. “I reckon,” said the other, greatly interested, “there are more brands than one?!’ “There are four. All different strengths— Riverbcad Gold,- Navy Cut No. 3/ Cavendish and Cut Plug No. 10. Thev are all good, hut as an old smoker I prefer a full flavoured sort like the Cut Plug No. 10. Will you try a fill?” The invitation was readily accepted, and before the boat reached North Shore the merits of “New Zealand Toasted” were warmly appreciated bv one mor9 devotee of the weed. —Advt.
