TWO BANK FAILURES

The City National Bank of Album with liabilities totalling 7,555 tho.nand dollars, shut their doors after heavy withdrawals. The Bankers Trust Company ol Philadelphia with liabilities totalling, 55,401 thousand dollars placed in the hands of the State bank officials a statement that ttie bank would pvo!>aiily continue after reorganisation. It is estimated the hank tailurcs will total at least a tboiKsuod by tli/o end of the year, representing the largest closings for a long time. While it is generally admitted that adverse business conditions are responsible, it is felt that United 'States bad too many banks during the boom period and the situation will improve with the culling.
