BATH TRAGEDY
WOMAN ELECTROCUTED
!By Telegraph—Press Association)
WELLINGTON, December 22
On touching a high power electric radiator, while in the bath last night, Mrs Millie Spinks, aged 48, of Kilbirnie, received a 230 volt shook, and she was killed before her hand could be removed from the heater. She was in the habit of using the radiator to warm herself, after having taken her bath. The radiator was of the circular copper type, with a wire of 200 watt heating element in the centre. On. hearing screams from tlie bathroom, Mrs Spink’s daughter rushed to her assistance, hut found the door locked and her husband had to force an entrance through the window. He found his wife unconscious with one hand still grasping the top of the heater. When attempting to release it he also received a severe shock, and at the same time the current was cut off by the blowing of the fuse at the main switch hoard. Artili'cial respiration was applied to Mrs Spinks, hub when the Doctor arrived, he pronounced life extinct. Apparently she had tried to move the heater to another position as she was about to leave the bath.
