: NOT APPROVED BY BAR. v Australian Press Association) MELBOURNE, December 22. The recent appointments to the High Court Judiciary by the Federal Ministry are causing considerable controversy. A Committee of the Bar of Victoria resolutioned -declaring such appointments raised the. gravest apprehension as to the future administration of justice. “Public confidence can only be secured by the appointment of men of the highest legal attainments a,nd independence of character, irrespective of political views. If judicial appointments are to be regarded as political rewards or opportunities for political service, public confidence in the honest administration of justice will inevitably be seriously threatened.
