STEADILY IMPROVES, [United Press Association.—By Electrn Telegraph.—Copyright. ] LONDON, December 19. “The Times’s” correspondent at Madrid states that the situation is rapidly improving. The workers are now resuming in many towns. Four more military judges have been appointed to deal with the Gautro "Vientos rebels. A special judge opens the case against the arrested members of the Republican Directorate. One of the latter, named Lerroux, is suffering from anthrax. Some Political leaders urge that the elective constituent in the Assembly be invested with a mandate to decide as to the form of Government which the nation desires. The Monarchists most strongly wish to avoid this, and for this reason, the election deadlock is increasing. Casualties in the recent insurrection number: Eleven killed, eighty injured, and five hundred imprisoned. CONDITIONS CALMER. (Received this Hnv at 9.4© a.m.) MADRID, Dec. 19. Disturbances are simmering down nnd tbe strikes are no longer general. Citizens are reinforcing the Government’s. peace measures, Rebels collided with civil guards at Aspe and lost -three killed and five wounded. Two civil ,guards werb wounded.
