AUCKLAND, December 17. : Fatal injuries were received by Robert Johnston, aged nine, whose parents reside at Port Chevalier, when he was knocked' down by a motor van in Point Chevalier road this morning. The boy, who suffered concussion and a fracture of the leg, was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where he died in the afternoon. The accident happened at *a ,sharp bend in the road. The eye witness was bowling a hoop across the road when be was struck by the vehicle.
A motor cyclist, Alfred Harriman, aged 28, of the Te Papapa, received fatal injuries when he was thrown from his machine in Grey Lynn shortly before midday. He received a. fracture of the skull and died a few hours later. . The motor cycle was only slightly damaged.
