ANOTHER REVOLUTION. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. ] (Received this dav at 12-25. p.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 17. The Guatemalan Minister, Rceiuis, was advised to-day that the Government and President Palma are overthrown. The message was signed, Ridriguez Betea, Secretary to the General Military .Junta now in control. llt said that General Maurm de Leon, the former Minister of War was killed in the fighting on Tuesday. To-day conditions are tranquil. General Manuel Orellona is designated tlio provisional President.
FURTHER PARTICULARS. WASHINGTON, Dec. 17. The American Charge-D’Affairs. Mr McCafferty at Guatemala, reported to the State Department- a revolution lias broken out with sharp fighting, principally in Guatemala City. Private and commercial dispatches likewise confirmed the outbreak. The reports have not made clear the political alignments of the revolt, but it is .stated the Army is participating, though apparently divided. Last week President Chacon suffered a cerebral haemorrhage. and was declared unfit *tio continue his duties.
Presumably the revolution was inspired by the opponents of the provisional President. Palma. 1
