RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16th. Dr. Phillips, the. President of the Auckland Division of the New Zealand Society of Professional Teachers of Music has organised lYA’s programme for this evening. He occupies a very high place as a teacher of both voice production and piano in Auckland city and is organist and choirmaster of All Saints’ Church, Ponsonby. A concert to be given in the Wellington Town Hall by the Wellington Symphony Orchestra in aid of the Christmas Appeal by the Mayor of Wellington, will be broadcast by 2YA. This appeal is to raise funds to help brighten tlie lot of poor people at Christmas time. During the evening there will be a talk by the Mayor, Mr G. A. Troup. A musical programme of exceptional merit has been arranged. Mrs Wilifred Andrews and Signor Lucien Ceasaroni will sing, and Mr Leon d e Mauny will play two violin solos. There will be plenty of variety in 3YA’s programme, vocal solos, mouth organ selections, ocarino and English concertina solos, humorous numbers and items on the harp being included. 4YA has a band concert scheduled for this evening. One of the. finest elocutionists in Dunedin, Mr D. E. Dali, will give Dickens sketches. Mr Dali possesses great dramatic ability and his voice is well suited to the microphone. Mr and Mrs Martindale will he heard in two duets and two solos. The other artists for this evening will be Miss Myra Stokes (contralto) and Mr E. Robins (tenor). WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17th. Christmas is drawing near and the popular IYA Broadcasting Choir, assisted by the IYA Orchestral Octet, will present a programme on old time Christmas favourites this evening. The main portion of tins will be presented as though taking place in the Squire’s ball and there will be old time songs and carols given with all the joyoiisness which marks the season. Musical items will he interlaced with suitable dialogues. A varied and interesting programme has been arranged for 2YA. The Ariel ■Singers will provide the vocal numbers. Mr F. W. Baker, an entertainer well known to IYA listeners, will contribute two humorous sketches. Miss Prudence Lewis, a talented violinist, Miss Molly Withers (piano soloist) and the Orehestrina will supply the instrumental programme. Relayed from 4YA and 3YA this evening, will he another of the popular dialogues for the benefit of farmers. The subject will he “Farmer Brown discusses superstitutious diseases of stock with the veterinary surgeon.” The speakers will he Messrs L. MeCaskill and O. V. Dayus. Miss Sylvia Angus and Miss Delcia Philpott will sing solos and duets for 3YA, while Mr C. L. Richards, baritone vocalist, will also be heard. Air Harold Shaw will recite two numbers by Milton Hayes and Mr A. E. Hutton (flautist) and the Studio Octet will provide tire instrumental musicL The operatic-classical programme at 4YA on Wednesday, December 17th, will include several vocal and instrumental numbers by Schubert. . Miss Trene Horniblow (contralto), Miss D. Dagg (soprano), Air Les Stubbs (baritone) and Aliss Elsie McPeak (elocutioniste) will provide the vocal portion of the evening’s programme. Afiss Horniblow will sing Penza’s “Had You Eut Known.” which will be presented with a violin obligato played by Air Wallace, and two Schubert numbers One of the items by Miss Elsie McPeak will be the recital of Robert Burn’s “A Man's a Man.”
