THE SCHNEIDER CUP
WILL BRITAIN DEFEND? [United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. J (Received this dav at 12 noon). LONDON, December I'4. “Is Britain to own defeatf” writes Turner, the aviation correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph,” commenting on her doubtful participation m the Schneider Cup race, about which the joint .-iir Alinistry and Aero Club Committee at present are debating. Turner stresses the fact that the cost of defending the trophy will be. consul-' eranly below that incurred in the bust race, as four high speed machines are built already.
It is definite, that should the Air Alinistry decline to make the defence (J. the trophy a service affair, no British machines would participate, for only the Air Alinistry possessed the necessary aircraft and pilots. Furthermore, France and Italy were entering service teams. It would? be a shame if Bri tain vacated the field now, because m the event of winning the trophy it would become the absolute property of the nation, apart from the prestige gained.
