HOKITIKA DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
SECONDARY DEPARTMENT. On Friday afternoon, on the occasion of the break up of tiie Secondary Department, the prize giving ceremony took place } Mr A. C. Armstrong, Chairman of the School Committee presiding. The scholars were briefly addressed by Air Armstrong and R.ev. Knights after which Airs J. H. AVilson presented. the , prizes. After the Rector had adrre'ssed the pupils, musical honours were accorded tl’icne who had assisted at the- ceremony. The School Song and the National Anthem fcpneludod a p-leasihg function.
Later, the -members of tlie School Staff and the Prefects were entertained by Airs ATenzies, and an opportunity was taken of a staff presentation to Airs Dale who is retiring after 14 years’ service in the School. Aliss Wilson, in handing Airs DaCe an telecferic reading hmn. expressed, cn behalf of the fit iff best wishes lor a long and iiappv period of retirement. The same morning, at the School Assembly, the Drum and Fife Band, which has been for mine time under the tutorship of Air E. Siifcbai’ds made Its first appearance at the School, and performed very creditably. Messrs Armstrong and Richards were present. . Next Thursday afternoon the Primary Department, will hold its break up and prize giving ceremony at the (School, when the Staff and Committee would he pleased to see a good gathering of parents and friends.
