RADIO PROGRAMME

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11th

The instrumental portion of lYA’s programme this evening will be provided by the I.YA Orchestral Octet under the direction of Mr Harold Baxter. Included in their items will be a trio for flute, ’cello and organ. Eric and Jack, a popular novelty and piano duo, will be heard in several ballads and the latest bits. The Celeste Trio have included among f heir items, ‘‘'Estudianti.na.” ’ A Topical Talk will."be given by Mr A. B. Chappell, M.A. The Band of the Wellington Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve under the conductorship of Petty Officer Baker wilt provide a programme of varied interest from 2YA. The artists assisting the band will be Mrs E. F'v Hollands (soprano), Mrs Dorothy Murray (contralto), Messrs S. E. R.xlger (baritojie), Mr Will Hancock (tenor) and Mi - V. R. Brown A feature of the programme will be the sketches by Mr Vryn Evans and Miss Linnie Nicholas.

The Canterbury Repertory Society will provide a special programme from 3YA. Two plays, both written bv Mr Allan Mulgan, of .Auckland, will be acted, and Professor J. Shelley will give a reading of poems of Masefield, and Poet Laureate. Mrs Ann Harper and Mr J. Tennant will sing. Silent day at 4YA.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12. Messrs James Simpson and Roy Dormer (tenors), Mr Eric Mannall (baritone) and Duncan Black (bass), a very popular quartet known as the New Zealand Four, will provide the vocal music from IYA this evening. Miss Nina Scott, talented elocutioniste, will be heard in three numbers. Orchestral items will be given by the IYA Orchestral Octet and ‘ the programme will include a short gramophone, lec-ture-recital by A Commentator.

Mr and Mrs Ray Kemp will sing solos and duets from musical comedies, and humorous items will be given by the popular entertainer, Mr Will Yates, at 2Y\. A novel turn will be furnished by Mrs R. M. Cummins who will sine popular sones with ukelele accompaniment. Mr F. J. Skedden, an artist who has made a special studv of syncopated piano novelties, will also contribute items. Suitable orchestral items will be played by the Orchostrina under the baton of Signor A. P. Truda.

Miscellaneous items will comprise JYA’s programme. Miss Lottie Colville (a pleasing voting ‘onran< v , Mrs T. A. Stewart (mezzo-soprano) and Air Syd. Andrews (tooor) will provide the vocal music. The Mascots will apt two humoruos sketches. The Studio Octet’s orchestral programme will in-

elude “Crown Diamonds” overture,

“The Bells oi Somerset,”- a selection from the musical comedy “Katinka,” several jazz nuipbers and Margis’s “Valse Bleue.”

There will l;e a varied programme from 4YA. A new mixed quartet' to be known as the Celeste Four, will nihke its first appearance and there will he a new novelty instrumentalist Air H. Dalziel. The members of the quartet are: Misses Rita Holmes and B. Rawlinson and Messrs James Simpson and L. C'achemaille. all artists of talent. Tn the elocutionary section of this programme there will be a

fifteen} minutes’ sketch by Miss McGregor and Miss Newbold entitled “Square Pegs.”
