A crowd of ten thousand, mostly women, fought to catch a close glimpse of the bridal pair. Mounted troopers and motor police were rushed to• the scene to rescue the original twenty foot police who were overpowered in the dense throng which. blocked traffic and broke the barriers. - Some women were injured in the crush and many fainted. Pick pockets were active and several were arrested.
