RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied, by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) TUESDAY, DECEMBER 9th. This evening the IYA Broadcasting Choir will present “St. John’s Eve,” an old English idyll, composed by Sir Frederick Co-wen and dedicated to the people of Melbourne, Victoria, to mark his association with the Melbourne Exhibition of 1888-9, when he conducted the famous choir. In the second portion of the programme, Miss Daphne Higram, violinist, will play, a trio (Misses Gwladys Payne, Oa-th-leen Mulqueen and Mr H. S. Poffley) and Mr Len Barnes, baritone, will sing. A bright and varied programme to be broadcast from 2YA, will be given by the Salon Orchestra, the Melodie Four, Mrs R. S. Allwright and those popular entertainers, Air Will McKeon and Miss Maisie Oakes. A novelty item, of interest to Scotsmen in particular, will be the bagpipe solos by Mr Dick Fletcher, a well known member of the local Pipe Band. The programme from 4YA will be provided hv the St. Kilda Band, under the conductorship of Mr .T. Dixon. The assisting artists will be Miss Ray Stubbs- (soprano), Miss M. Green (contralto), Mr Reg. Richards (baritone) and Miss Isobcl McGregor (elocutioniste). The Hom% Science talk from 4YA to-morrow afternoon by the Home Science J Extension Department of Otago University will be on “How to Bring out your Best Points.” Silent day at 3YA.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10th. This evening’s programme from IYA wilt be given by the Ponsonby Boys’ Brass Blind, one of the many institutions in Auckland for the improvement of young players. Numerous excerpts from light and comic operas sung by the Melodious Quartet will be heard from 3YA. Listeners will he treated to solos and concerted numbers, from a wide selection of musical plays. The humorous portion of the evening’s programme will be provided by Air H. Instone and a popular orchestral programme will be given by the Studio Octet. From 4YA *at 7.15 p.m., Air J. Hogg will speak on “American Business Methods.” Four popular artists will he contributing the- vocal portion of 4YA’s programme. Airs D. Carthy. Airs A. H Ritchie Air R. A. Mitchell and Air Arthur W. Alloo. The Studio Trio will present extracts from Haydn, Mozart, Schumann and Grieg. Air A. Gorrie will give a recital—“ Twelve Alinutes with Tennyson.” i -“ ' Silent day at 2YA.
