BLOWN UP
SALVAGE SHIP ARTTGLIO. FOURTEEN PERSONS KILLED. INCLUDING TWO DIVERS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) PARIS, Dec. 8. The famous Italian salvage ship Artiglio used to recover the treasure from the Egypt was blown up. Fourteen persons were killed and seven •sent to hospital. Fishermen picked up the survivors.
The explosion occurred when clearing wreckage in the channel off Guiberon. The vessel sank immediately. Two diveirs working at ’the time were ejut off' and • drowned. Thenbodies wei’o later recovered. The explosion wa|s due to the ignition of several hundreds of tons of explosives on the freighter France, cn which the clivers were working.
The Artiglio was two hundred yards from the freighter, but the explosion was so violent that she was blown to pieces. ______
