WEST INDIES. AGAINST SOUTH AUSTRALIA. INNINGS DEFEAT POSSIBLE. (Australian Press Association) ADELAIDE, Dec. 7. The cricket match between West Indies and South Ausralia was continued yesterday on a fast wicket. The weather was fine. Earlier in the innings l.ee and Urimmett had punished the howling, scoring 25 in 16 minutes. Constantine separated them, getting Lee out, at 55, which he scored in 115 minutes. Lonergan, who was still sore on account of 1 1 is accident the day before, when lie collided with the fence trying to catch a “sixer,” partnered Grhnmett, who, when fifty, stopped one with his pads. Hits back wicket play was attractive. The tail enders all batted stylishly. The West Indians ’ were alert and accurate in the field, their throwing over long distances being a revelation. Copstantine was particularly prominent in this respect. Walker and Wall batted confident lv, the latter scoring fifty runs in 80 minu ton. 'The West Indians began Olieir second innings briskly, but Grimmett and Waite were troublesome. The former’s first wicket only cost two runs, Wall catching Roach brilliantly. Rirkett was out off the next ball from Grimmett,, whose, average was now two for one. Waite’s first wicket, which was Headley, emst nine runs. Grimmett again worried Grant, catching him for one. Martin and Bartlett then posted the century, just after which the former went out log before to Waite, and four runs later Hunte was sent to the pavilion. The West Indians were puzzled, and they waited for Grimmett’s slows. With four minutes to go. Sealev was caught at silly point hv Richardson. Grimmett’s average is four tor 58, and Waite’s t-hrefe .for 32. These howlers had tho visitors' demoralised. At stumps the West Indies had lost seven for 122. WEST TNDTFS—Ist Tnnings.
