U.S.A. FARM RELIEF
HOOVER OVERRULED. ■inifced Prose AUBuciation — By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) WASHINGTON, December 7. All semblance of bi-partisan Congressional accord with President Hoover vanished when the Senate Agricultural Committee unanimously approved of a sixty million dollars drought relief programme in disregard of the merely twenty-five million dollar proposal oi Mr Hoover’s administration. Senator McNary (Chairman of the Committee) announced that he would report the sixty million measure to a senate on December 8 for prompt passage.
Meanwhile, it is foreseen that the passage of this and other contemplated hills will apparently increase the year’s Treasury deficit from the 180 million dollar contemplated in Hoover’s budget, cabled, to a deficit of 340 millions.
