For the Taumnrunui races on the first day, the weather was fine, and the course in fair order, but the attendance was poor. AJanunm Handicap:—(l) Sea Cob 1; (3) Lupin Abbey 2; (2) Alarble King 3. Won by one and a-half lengths. Arcliieval fell. Alarble King lost its rider, but wafe remounted by R. Svme, and finished third. Time 3.0.

Taringamotu Hack:—(l) Ruling Clnef and (5) Abbey Queen deadbeat; (3) Snmy Prince 3. A good race in the ■straight resulted in a dead beat, third horse one and a-half lengths avvav. Time 1.16 2-5.

Cup. 1J miles:—(2) Hnkanoa 1; (6) King AYillonyx 2; (5) Ohinemuri 3. At the too Ohinemuri fell and brought down Yalsier, Crnnchan and Trishna. Won by five lengths. Ohinemuri was remounted by D. Spinks and finished third. Time 2.11 2-5.
