RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) FRIDAY, DECEMBER sth. Included amongst the artists on lYA’s miscellaneous programme for this evening, will be Airs D. M. de Pine (soprano) of Whangarei. |She comes to Auckland with a very fine reputation as an artist. Mr Victor Baxter, young English bass-baritone, will again be heard in some fine ballads. The Harmony Five, a novelty instrumental' quintet, will give several numbers including some of the latest hits. A topical talk will be given by Mr A. B. Chappell, M.A. The three young ladies of the Salon Trio will once again be heard in several numbers including piano solos, vocal solos with violin obligato, and violin and ’cello solos. The evening’s programme will include a lecture-recital to l>e by Mr Karl Atkinson, entitled; “Man’s Musical Pilgrimage.”

At 2YA Orehestrina under Signor A. P. Truda will play items of a light nature in keeping with the variety programme. Mr Ken Rigby, baritone, will feature musical comedy numbers and Miss Katherine Baskette (mezzo-soprano) will sing a group of light ballads. Air Billy Hart, the well known entertainer, will present a group of the latest popular songs, and humorous duets will be sung by Air an Airs E. Ransom Alyers. 3Y\ has a two hours’ variety entertainment scheduled for this evening. A programme of light music, both vocal and instrumental, will be presented bv 4YA. During the evening Aliss A. Winkel, elocutionist, will present two new recitals which have not yet been given in the Dominion: “Kate in the Telephone Box,” and “Reducing.” Both of these selections contain abundant humour. (SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6th. A new artist. Air Peter Davidson, (baritone), is. included on lYA’s programme for this evening. The IYA Orchestral Octet under the direction of Air Harold Baxter, will provide many interesting items including a violin solo by A 1 Baxter. Aliss Chrissie Foster (soprano), will sing three delightful little songs. The Neiafu Duo consisting of Hawaiian and steel guitars will give a quartet of Hawaiian, numbers with vocal refrains. Airs B. Jellard (contralto.) will also be heard. To 2YA’s programme, the. Lyric Alale Voice Quartet and Aliss Phyllis Leighton will contribute solos and concerted numbers of a light nature, and Abes si's Uibson and btanden will feature popular songs. Novelty instrumental items will be given by Airs Alikired Kenny’s Guitar U'R’iiestra and the Humour of the programme will be provided by Air Let) ash to 11, whose items' will include songs by Handley (England’s leading, Radio comedian). The Salon Orchestra will also be playing. ' 3YA has a. splenuid vaudeville programme arranged. On the musical siue will be Aliss Hilda Hutt and Mr Clive Hindle (vocalists). Well known melodies will issue from Airs G. Amer’s accordion. Air J. J. Flewellyn and Air Geo. Kitchener will contribute humorous numbers and an instrumental programme will be played by tne Studio Octet.

4YA’s programme will he reminiscent of a night with the Fisk Jubilee Singers that company of emancipated slaves 'who toured the world some forty years ago. Items will be sung by the members of the choir ot St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church under the direction of Air P. Rawlinson.

The church services to be broadcast on Sunday evening will be: IYA—St. Alary’s Cathedral, Preacher, Dr. A. W- Averill, Archbishop of New Zealand.
