Replying to Air Glyn in the Commons, . Air Thomas stated Mr Scullin had promised to expedite the Commission's investigation of distressed settlers in Victoria. In the Commons, Sir Cunliffe Lister’s amendment to continue the Dyestuffs Act till 1936, was defeated by 255 to 225. Six liberals, including Sir J. Sinion, voted against the Government. Several left wing labourites did not vote. Air Everard inquired whether in the interest of economy and in order to set an example to the country, Government would appoint a select committee to inquire into a twelve arid a-half per cent reduction in members salaries. Air MacDonald replied tfiat salaries were fixed in 1911, and cannot now be regarded as more than adequate.
