THURSDAY, DECEMBER. 4th. The monthly meeting was held at the County Chambers at 7.30 p.m. Present: .Messrs J. J. Mclntosh (vicePresident), A. O. Armstrong, Baker, Kelly, Stuar.t, King, Parry, Wells and Evans. Apology was made tor tlie absence of Mr Paterson and Dr Toiclielmann. '..The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed. The ou!twartl correspondence vas lead and approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Department of Internal Affairs thanking Society for reply regarding use lMagimm 12 bore guns.— Received.
From saW’in respect to issue of game licenses enquiring post offices to be designate.—Received and resolved licenses be issued at the money order offices in the district.
From same stating a bonus of 2s per tail was now paid by the Forest Ranger of Westland in respect to deer destroyed.—-Reeei ved.
t From same notifying the appointment of Jolin Digby as a Ranger tor the district.—Received. Front same in respect to the supply of ammunition and giving particulars of the procedure in respect to the issue of same,—Received and Secretary to reply. -
From Tourist Office, Greymbutli, enquiring regarding fishing in district.— Received and reply sent 1 (approved.
From Grey District Society enquiring in regard to the appointment of a joint Ranger for the two districts. — Received and reply-approved. From TI. Ridland applying to rent Hatchery building at Lake Kanieri.— Received. and resolved not :o let tlie residence; the hut to lie avnilahlc lor
campers. From Eric James, Dunedin, statin" an exhibition of Westland scenic views was being made at the Dunedin Show. —Received with thanks. Front Tourist Department, Vvd'iivrton, and others, applying f<»r stalkingblocks in South Westland.—Received. From Grey District Society with reference to account.—Received, Sec-re-; tarv to reply. From H. J. Touristed, Orepuki. applying for map of stalking district Received; to be supplied. From Constable- Brooks, Pembroke, forwarding -tally of 144 deer toils brought in by Ranger.—Received. GENERAL. Accounts to the amount, of £6l 7s 3.1 were passed for payment. Mr Armstrong reported on repairs necessary to hatchery flume and i bridge, and other matters at the ■ Hatchery, the work being entrusted to Mr-D; 'Stevenson. —Received and aprprfived:';.; . ti , Mr Butler "brought up the mailer !of - protecting possible whitebait over j m the Estuary where stock was likej ]y to be depastured and destroy s« v, e. The' matter was referred to Messrs Baker and Braddon to report on. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to Mr Armstrong and the Hatchery Committee for the large amount of work carried out during the hatching season, particularly in the liberating of fry and attending at the Hatchery. Mr Armstrong acknowledged the complimentary vote. The piatter of calling a 1 monthly meeting in January was left to the Hon. Secretary. ~ . Mr Parry referred to the non-'-x----uenditure of the grant for staking Okarito lagoon channel. The Secretary explained the position, and the, m’atter was deferred for Mr Parry to look into and report. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to.’the Chair, and the extension of the Season’s greetings to the members of the Committee The meeting Base at 8.30 p.m.
