RADIO PROGRAMME

THURSDAY. DECEMBER 4th
'Hie new IYA Orchestral Octet, under the direction of Mr Harold Baxter, will be making its first appearance this evening. Miss Cherry Anderson will lie heard in piano and vocal novelties. Mr Reg. Morgan (baritone) and Mr Bert Skeels previously male alto with the Westminister Glee Singers, are also on the programme. Mr M. D. Laurenson will give a. humorous talk on A. A. Milne, the well known writer.
The Apollo Singers will give their final concert for the year in the Concert Chamber of the Wellington Town Hall this evening. A relay will be carried out by 2YA. A very choice operatic-classical programme has been arranged for the hour and a half’s: concert which will precede the session of dance music at 3YA. The vocalists will be the Grand Opera Quartet singing solos, duets and quartettes. Flute solos will be played by Mr A. E. Hutton, and a programme of appropriate music will be provided by the Studio Octet under Mr Harold Beck. Silent day at 4YA. FRIDAY, DECEMBER sth. Included amongst the artists on lYA’s miscellaneous programme for this evening, will be Mrs D. M. de Pine (soprano) of Whangarei. IShe comes to Auckland with a very fine reputation as an artist. Mr Victor Baxter, young English bass-baritone, will again be heard in some fine ballads. The Harmony Five, a novelty instrumental quintet, will give several numbers including, some of the latest hits. A topical talk will be given by Air A, B. Chappell, M.A. The three young ladies of the Salon Trio will once again be heard in several numbers including piano solos, vocal solos with violin obligato, and violin and ’cello solos. The evening’s programme will include a lecture-recital to be rpven by Mr Karl Atkinson, entitled, “Man’s Musical Pilgrimage.’’ At 2YA Orchestrion, under Signor \. P. Truda will play items of a light nature in keeping with the variety programme. Mr Ken Rigby, baritone, will feature musical comedy numbers and Miss Katherine Baskette (mezzo-soprano) will sing a group of light ballads. Mr Billy Hart, the well known entertainer, will present a group of'the latest popular songs, and humorous duets will he sung by Mr an Mrs E. Ransom Myers. 3YA has a two hours’ variety entertainment scheduled for this evening.
A programme of light music, both vocal and instrumental, will be presented by 4YA. During the evening Miss A. W.inkel, elocutionist, will present two new recitals which have not yet been given in the Dominion: “Kate in the Telephone Box.” and “Reducing.” Both of these selections contain abundant humour.
