U.S.A. TOURISTS LEAVE

AUCKLAND, December 3
The American tourist liner “Malolo” sailed for Suva to-night. The tourists paid warm tributes to New Zealand’s scenic wonders and hospitality. A number of them intend to return for a further holiday.
.Air Making, a well-known New Orleans banker ,described the Rotorua golf course as the finest in the world.
INJURED SEAMAN.
SEAPLANE AND CRUISER TO THE RESCUE.
AUCKLAND, Dec. 4
Both the Fnirev seaplane, which brought prompt medical assistance, and the cruiser Dunedin, played a part yesterday in aiding Trevor AVilson, a seaman, injured at midday bn the Great Barrier Island and brought to Auckland. ArVilson, aged 18. received severe injuries to his left arm and back through being caught in a winch loading firewood on tile scow Coners.
On being advised by telegraph of the accident a doctor was sent in the seaplane and arranged for the. Naval Base to wireless the Dunedin, (at manoeuvres in the Gulf) to pick up Wilson and transport him to Auckland. He was hospitalled in the evening and is progressing favourably, but it is likely his hand will be amputated.-
A RESIGNATION.

Mr S. E. Fay, repairing and equipment assistant of the New Zealand Railways Department has resigned in order to accept a position in England.
THEFTS ADMITTED.
CHRISTCHURCH, December 4
Tliirlwall King Hayward, admitted in the. Magistrate’s Court that he /committed two thefts from lodgers rooms at Stonehurst private hotel while boarding there. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of obtaining money by false pretences. He was sentenced to four months imprisonment on the charge of false pretences and three months imprisonment on each of the other two charges. Hayward gave his age at thirty and occupation as a salesman.“He has been living at a fast rate and drinking to excess,” said, the Probation Officer Savil. TAXI FIRMS AT LAAV.
CHRISTCHURCH, December 4. Taxi firms were at law to-day When F. S. Trillo proprietor of Gold Band Taxis sought an injunction restricting William Dick of Gold Crown Taxis from using the title “Gold Crown Taxis.” It was claimed that the use of this title was detrimental to plaintiff's business.
Decision was reserved by Judge Adams,

Mr W. J. Holdsworth. Chairman of the Auckland Power Board, has been chosen ns the official Reform candidate for the Roskill seat.
