The Auckland Comedy Players, under the direction of Mr J. F. Montague, will give two one-act plays at IYA this evening. The first will he “The Devil’s Rock,” which was a prize-winner in the play-writing competition held by the IYA Musical and Dramatic Advisory Committee. It is a very dramatic play and was specially written for broadcasting by Miss Betty Kerr, of Tima.ru. Madame Mary Towsey (mezzo-soprano), and Mr John Bree (baritone) will he heard in solos. The Moore sisters a combination of young ladies will abo contribute to the programme with instrumental trios, violin solos, and hello solos.
2YA has a popular concert for this evening. The contributing artists will include the Melody Four, whose popularity never wanes, Airs R. S. Allwright (soprano), a- mandolin due (Messers. •!. H. Thomas and B. French), and The Sketchers, who will present a series of sketches. The Salon Orchestra will provide an orchestral programme. 3YA will be broadcasting a, boxing tournament between Otago and Canterbury.
A relay of that immortal work, Handel’s “Messiah,” to be performed in the Dunedin Town Hall bv the Dunedin Choral Society, under the conductorship of Dr. V. E. Galway, will be relaved by 4YA. The vocal soloists will lie: Ala dame AVinnie Fraser (soprano), Aliss Alary Pratt (contralto), Air Alfred AVnlmsley (tenor) and Air Short of AVellington (baritone).
From 4YA to-morrow afternoon, the subject of the Hume Science ' talk given by the Home Science Extension Department of Otneo University will be “Vegetable Main Dishes.” At 7.40 p.m. Air L. AY. AfcOnskill will review the November bene of the “Journal of Agriculture.” AYEDNESDAY. DECEMBER 3rd. The Jubilee Institute for the Blind will provide the whole programme for IYA. The concert will include band items, part-songs by the School Choir, elocutionary items, piano duets, soprano solos, and cornet and saxophone solos. Altogether, a very Interesting programme by a very talented party of performers. At 3YA, the usual operatic programme of a Wednesday night has given place to a “popular” one. to provide which a wide variety of talent has been engaged. These artists will make only one appearance, during which they will play their part and then (retire. The Joyous Pair will contribute jazz songs at the piano. Mrs N. Bingham Puddey, will sing three songs A[r Cbeslyn O’Connor’s turn will comprise popular songs and Air Leslie Fleming will contribute several ' old favourites. Humour will bq nrovided by Air Bert Goodland. The operatic-classical programme at 4Y\ opens with two excellent operatic solos by A T erdi and Wanger. sung bv Mr James Simpson. The Studio Trio will present trios by Haydn, Hummel and Alendelssohn. Mr L. J. Neilson, the possessor of a very fine broadcasting baritone voice, will be singing. Air D. E. Dali will recite Lamb’s dissertation upon “The Roast Pig.” and “Heather Ale,” by Robert Louis Stevenson. Silent, ilav at 2YA.
The home science talk from IYA, 2YA and 3YA to-morrow afternoon will be on “The School Lunch Box.” The talk has been prepared by the Horne Science Extension Department of Otago University.
