The Auckland police were informed that an S.O.'S. was received from Thames thin morning from a ship named “Hedwig” stating that she is sinking fast and is a considerable distance off the New Zealand coast. WELLINGTON, December ft.

The Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department received tbe following radio message:—• “fi.3o a.m. to 0.00 a.m. the following was heard on short waves. “8.0.5.” D.S.S'. S. Hedwig Pratas Reef K.”
