CYCLING.
The meeting held on Saturday evening iittracied a good and representative attendance of town and country riders and supporters, among whom were R. B. Collett, ex-Sou Hilaud champion, and A. Richards, a Lack marker mini Christchurch tracks. The convenors, Messrs J. J. Williams and E. Best in opening the meeting explained the object was to form a Chib to conduct cycle races on roan and track, and to foster the sport among juniors. The social side would include cycle holiday “runs” which had been so popular locally a few years hack. Mr J. J. Williams was elected to tile chair. The following officers were elected:—

The Club to be known a,s the Hokitika Cycling Club. The subscriptions were fixed at seniors ss, juniors 2s 6d. The junior age, limited to 16 years with the right to ride once in senior events without losing their junior limitation. Every member is to have his own number, which will tie used by him in competition. On Mr Collett’s motion, it. was decided to hold a road race lor senior* of about. 13 miles covering from Hokitika to Arabura bridge down the Valley to Havill’s corner and hack to Hokitika, hack along the One Mile road. For the juniors, to the Three ’Mile Hotel and hack. Entry' fees being senior 2s fid. junior Is (id. 1 1' 1 date for the race to he Saturday. December 20th. 'IV Secretary was directed to got into Vomuuuuoation with the authorities with the view of a possible sports for New Year’* Day on ( ass Square.
