NEW MOTOR LAWS

The first part of the new motor laws will apply throughout England on Monday. An applicant for a driver’s lie ense must sign a declaration of physical fitness. It absolutely bars tbe obtaining of a license if' an applicant suffers from epilepsy, disabling giddiness, fainting, or inability to read a car s 7 number plate at twenty-five yards. The age of motor cyclists is raised to sixteen. Careless driving becomes a new offence, , a distinction from dangerous driving without care,or reasonable consideration for other users of tile road. Penalties are virtually doubled. Pillion riders must use an approved seat and ride astride. Only two are allowed on solo motor cycle. Joy-riding which is the old term for car stealing- is now a punishable offence. The speed limit will be abolished on New Year’s Day.
