A PROTEST
Hv Telegraph—Per Press Association MARION, November 28. A vigorous protest against the action of the Auckland Aero Club in calling tenders for the buildings in which 66 per cent, of the timber required is specified as Oregon Pine and Redwood, was entered this afternoon by Mr J. A. Bush, of Mn.rton, in a telegram to the Chairman of the Unemployment Board. Mr Bush is the Chairman of the Sawmillers’ Timber Trading Company Limited, and is probably more conversant with the industry than anyone else in the Dominion.. He stressed in his telegram the amount of unemployment amongst the timber workers, and points out the unfair competition of tlie American timber. The Aero Club, he alleges, was financed by an art union, and he considers it unfair that tlie public should have contributed to a scheme promiters of which have ignored the quality of New Zealand timber, and have by their actions, accentuated the unemployment problem. The Dominion timber industry, he says, is in a luyd way. and he urges the Chairman of the Board to intervene before tlie tenders closes to-day.
