A miner has discovered what is believed to he a rich gold strike in Yass district near Jeraiva. The prospector reported sand between two hill/s yielding an ounce of gold to the pant ill of sand. There has been a general rush to peg out claims. N.S.W. IMPORTS. SYDNEY, Nov. 25. Imports into New South Wales during October show a satisfactory movement towards adjustment of the trade balance compared with October, 1929. There is a decline of £2,416.72< sterling, representing a fall of approximately forty-eight per cent. RAILWAY LOSSES. SYDNEY, Nov. 25. Chief Railway Commissioner Cleary stated for the last five months this year the rail losses each week were •G 70,000 but in the last few weeks loss--03 jumped to nearly £IOO,OOO. Ho warned city folks thac unless they backed the services, a bad day of reckoning would come. TRANSPORT IN N.S.W. SYDNEY, Nov. 25. The Transport Trust expressed satisfaction at the effect of the recent prod notion concession in fares on the tramways. A large number of additional passengers were carried. The Chairman of the Trust said thev did not favour penny fares. Auckland City Council gave this system a trial but abandoned it after six weeks.
