JUVENILE BALL
The juvenile fancy dress ball which is indeed one of the events of the year in Woodstock was held in the hall on Thursday evening, and proved a distinct success, providing a great night’s enjoyment for both' young and old. The costumes of the kiddies were a credit to the mothej-s who must huve spent much time 1 in preparing. The difficult task .of judging was ably carried out by “’ATesdames Arnold Perry and- Cox who Kindly came out from Hokitika, and their awards were heartily applauded , by all present. After the judging the children had their turn at dancing until supper was served, dancing being carried on until midnight when all left after a splendid nights enjoyment. Music was supplied by Aliss E. Stoop and Messrs T. Seddon and Les Wells. The following is a list of prize winners and fancy costumes:—
Girls six and under, best dressed: Olga AVells (night) 1; June Nancekiveil (pinapple) 2. Original: Nonna Willoughby (cotton reel) 1; Lena ■Screen (mouse) 2. Boys six and under, best dressed: Rex Stoop (jockey) 1; Ron AVells (Coster) 2. Original: Jack Oarsan (umbrella) 1; Ivor Wil lough by (up side down) 2. Girls seven and over, best dressed:—Jean Stoop (night fairy) 1; Alary Ryan (shepherdess) 2. Original : Thor a Thorpe (window) 1; Joyce Seddon (Eastern Lady) 2, (special) Cathie Stoop' (Grandma’s days).
Boys seven and over, best dressed : Ken Wells (Zulu) 1, Bob Screen (Indian) 2. Original: Ed. Stoop (Atlantic- Flight) 1; Ed. Screen (Ford’s Bottled Ale) 2, (special) Artie Rogers (Why did I kiss that girl).
Some of the other costumes worn were as follows. Mvrna Carson (Blue Butterfly), Alarie Keenan (night), E'ilv Kelly (rose bud!, Dannv Ryan (Don Bradman), Afargaret Keenan, (Rainbow), Noleen Keenan (rose), Ellen Madgowick (fluffy ruffles!, Corvine Griffiths (baby’s rattle), Allie Stephens (chocolate fancy), Zelia AVilloughby (shower gold), Kevern AVilloughby (petrol tax), Alerle Stoop (Golliwog), Audrey Stoop (powder puff), Jean Keenan (night fairy).
