Misses Gwladys Edwards and Hilda Chudley and Messrs Claude Moss and Charles Edwards will be the contributing vocalists in the programme to be given by 2YA this evening. The items for the most part will be of a classical nature. Elocutionary numbers will be given by Miss Rose Carte. An interesting feature of the instrumental portion of the programme will be a four ’cello number played by Mr Claude Tanner, Misses Iris Lawson, Katherine Goodson and Mr Alex Blyth. The item in question, a “Serenade” by Eachner, is being broadcast for the first time in New Zealand on this oecasion. The. Orchestrion, under Signor A. P. Trnda, will play supporting numbers. The monthly talk on Ixiokis will V given from 3YA by Mr E. E. Wiltshire, President of the Linwood Public Library. Mr .7. Scott, conductor of Derry’s Military Band, has arranged a well diversified programme bath is evening at 3YA and included in the supplementary list of artists w; i be Miss Addie Campbell, who was known in Australia, as “The Bendigo Nightingale,” Mr Geo. Titchener O'U" moijst) and the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. A concert to be given in the Dunedin Town Hall by the Royal Dunedin Male Choir will be broadcast by 4YAflorae specially fine chorus work-will be heard in “Christmas Eve,” ‘•Damascus,” “The Cloud Capped Towers,” “The Orpheus,” “Shenandoah.” “Ring Out Wild Bells” and “I.och Lomond. ' The soloists will he: Signorina Ros*e (soprano). Mr A. R-ommil (baritone)., Mr G. Dunne (bn ri tine), Mr W Smith (French horn) and Miss lau Judd violin). Silent day at IYA.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25th. Mrs Les Crane will give her weekly talk on “Health of ..Mind, and Body in' relation to,Diet.” from IYA at 3.15 p.lll. Great interest, is already being taken in the forthcoming visit of Laj-d and Lady Baden-Powell and the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts are getting ready for the great occasion. Miss A. Ml Burgin, at 7.40 p.m. this evening, will give a talk on the girl Guides and the forthcoming rally. t One of the. very enjoyable sections of; the programmes which are broadcast from IYA is the series of talks given by Mrs Daisy Basham on the lives and works of great composers. On this occasion she has chosen the composer. for her discouse and she will be assisted by Mr M. Barry Coney, who will sing several numbers from this composer’s operas. Miss Joan Laird a young soprano with, extensive English experiem e will sing three leading operatic numbers. Mr Arthur Ripley, one' of Auckland’s leading tenors is also singing and the IYAString Octet will provide items from various light and grand operas. - From 2YA, there will be a miscellaneous concert. A popular programme will he provided by the Salon Orchestra, Air J. Blackwood will contribute piano-accordion items, there will be humor from Mr Will MoKeon, and the latest popular songs from Mr W. E. Elliott. Airs Jeanne Potts and Air H. AV. Dowling will he heard in soprano and baritone respectively. Air R. W. Couplend, who has succeeded Air R.. W. Marshall in charge of the Tourist Office in Dunedin, will speak from 4YA on “Tourist Resorts of New Zealand.” The success of 4YA’s “Edinburgh Night,” was so great that it warrants a repetition of this type of programme, which will take place this evening. Selections will be played by the Dunedin Highland Pine Band, under the direction of Pipe Major ATacAlillan. A'lost of the items will be new to New Zealand listeners. Such items as “Robin Adair,” “The Rowon Tree.” “We’d better bide wee,” “Tinker’s Weddjn’ .” “Rorv O’ Afore,” “Scots Wha Hae.” “Scotland Yet,” “Scottish Bluebell.” and “Annie Laurie,’* are a few of the items to be performed by assisting artists. The performers will be Afrs W. Car tv (soprano), ATr Bert Rawlinson (baritone). Miss Helen Roy (contralto 7. Air E. Bond (bass), -Miss E. Nowbold (reciter) and Air G. Christie. (cornet soloist).
